This is my first post back after a long silence. I hope you are all well.

The past year has been hard and I have spent a lot of time wondering if I can keep Little Deer Designs alive. Life has become so expensive and everyone is feeling the pinch. I know I am not the only small creative business who has seen a drastic drop in sales, whilst costs of materials kept rising.

At the same time it’s become harder for a small business to get heard and seen amongst the noise of social media.

But this post is not a grumble! It’s to say “Hi! I’m still here 🤗”. Because I love what I do, and that keeps me going. So hopefully I will see you again soon at a market. Starting tomorrow, when you can find me at @theminories in Colchester!

This year, like every year, I will not be offering Black Friday deals. There are a few reasons for this, but the primary one is that, as a small business, I simply can't afford to. I create each piece by hand with minimal profit margins.

While it's been a tough year for many businesses, including my own, I remain committed to the quality and craftsmanship of every item I make. But sales have dropped and material costs have risen. I’ve chosen not to pass these increases onto my customers, as I know my work is already a significant investment for many. I understand that the current cost of living crisis has made things harder for a lot of people, and I truly appreciate those who continue to support my business.

Each piece I create is made with love and care, intended to be a special keepsake. Please know that I value every customer more than words can express. Thank you for your continued support.

I know how easy it is to get bargains online, but it means so much to a small business owner like myself when you come to us for that special one-off gift.

I did an excited little happy dance when I spotted a visitor wearing a pair of earrings she purchased previously. And my heart burst when customers returned to add to their bauble collection. I cannot tell you how magical it feels when your handmade product becomes part of someone’s family tradition.

It really means the world to me. So from the bottom of my heart, a big thank you ❤️❤️❤️
